  • Vanessa O'Donoghue - Senior Account Manager

Vanessa has been in the travel industry for many years. She studied Marketing Management with IMM, before starting at Comair in 2008 with MTBeds as a product assistant. AT MTBeds she was a part of the team that rebranded and relaunched MTBeds and the website. In 2009 she started working with Kulula Holidays as well as MTBeds, still as a product assistant, but this time, working on the launch of the new Holidays website as well as the GOTravel24 website. She spent quite some time working with Kulula in various roles, whereafter she had the opportunity to work on SLOW, which she grabbed with both hands. She took over the brand just as they launched SLOW in the City. She also launched SLOW membership and was responsible for the launch event and all branding, marketing and PR for SLOW Lounges and SLOW in the City.

In 2012 she started at British Airways (operated by Comair) as the Brand Manager, where she stayed for three years, during which time the brand won Sunday Times' Top Brands for three consecutive years. During this time she took on British Airways mainline (International) as well and became the Marketing Executive for British Airways southern Africa. She managed very big campaigns, like the 'To Fly. To Serve' campaign and the launch of the A380 in South Africa, where they organised 'race the plane' with Bryan Habana, the first fashion show in the air (in collaboration with Harrods) and a high tea onboard. For the launch, they also flew over Table Mountain, which was a world-first as Cape Town cannot accommodate an A380. She was very involved in the launch of the British Airways Credit Card and the launch of AVIOS in South Africa. During her time with BA she was responsible for managing all branding, marketing and PR for both British Airways (operated by Comair) and British Airways.

She is married with two young daughters and when not in the office, she is a self-proclaimed 'petrol head', with a HUGE passion for cars and motor racing, so she spends a lot of time at the track. She also loves red wine, reading, spending time with friends and watching a good comedy!

Her love of travel and all things exotic, not to mention the energetic environment in which she works, is what continues to motivate and inspire her on a daily basis.

  • Julia Freemantle - Content Producer

Julia began her career in journalism as a copy editor at Condé Nast House & Garden. Learning from some of the best in the publishing business and working on a superlative product set the standards high from the outset and instilled in her what will be a lifelong passion for lifestyle content creation.

After a few years learning the ropes, and working as a variety of glossy magazines, she returned to Condé Nast House & Garden to try her hand as features editor, the transition from editing to writing a huge departure in terms of direction, but one that she jumped at. Four years in this position honed her skills and broadened her experience – shooting, compiling, and styling stories were added to her repertoire as a result of working for a small team.

Starting in 2015 as Deputy Editor at Real Estate, she’s moved into a more managerial role, and oversees a small but passionate team working once again in luxury publishing, her comfort zone.

Over her career she’s experienced some of SA’s most beautiful lifestyle and hospitality properties, ultra-luxurious spas and cars and dined at the best restaurants in the country, interviewed leaders in their fields, from designers, to artists and chefs, and written about everything from wellness, to hospitality and architecture.

She’s recently moved back to Joburg, where she was raised, after 16 years in Cape Town and is loving its vibrance and constant activity. In her downtime, she dabbles in photography, visits exhibitions and enjoys good wine. A décor, art and nature lover, and a slave to her senses, she’s happiest in beautiful spaces with lots of soul and sunshine.
